History

The distribution of natural gas in the municipality of Subotica began as early as 1990 as part of the Public Enterprise „Subotica Heating Plant“, Subotica. Within that enterprise, a gas distribution network was built across the local communities, totalling 500 km in length. The enactment of the new Energy Law created the need to separate the activities of heat distribution and natural gas distribution. Accordingly, on 2 December 2005, the Subotica Municipal Assembly passed a Decision on the change of status of the Public Enterprise „Subotica Heating“, by separating the part of the enterprise that carries out the activity of natural gas distribution. At a session held on 28 December 2005, the Subotica Municipal Assembly passed a decision on the establishment of JKP „Suboticagas“ Subotica.
