Characteristics of the existing system

The gas distribution network is supplied with natural gas from the transport system of J.P. “SrbijaGas”, with the Subotica GDRS serving as the point of delivery, where the consumption of natural gas for the city of Subotica is read via a turbine meter with a corrector.
The gas distribution network, which originates from the Subotica GMS, is constructed entirely from polyethylene pipes (PE 80, SDR 11) with a working pressure of 2.5 bar. A pipeline branch, with dimensions of Ø 400 x 36.4 mm and Ø 315 x 28.7 mm, connects the GMRS Subotica to the gas ring that encircles the city of Subotica. The gas ring is constructed from polyethylene pipes with a diameter of Ø 250 x 22.8 mm. As part of the gas ring, JKP “SuboticaGas” also owns two MRSs, namely MRS-3 and MRS Palić, which serve as an additional regulation of the operating gas pressure in the gas ring, as well as a site for the control measurement of natural gas consumption. From the gas ring, the main gas pipeline network is distributed to all parts of the city. The pipelines are of various dimensions, and of standardised dimensions, namely: Ø 20 x 3.0 mm (gas connections), Ø 32 x 3.0 mm, Ø 63 x 5.8 mm, Ø 90 x 8.2 mm, Ø 110 x 10.0 mm and Ø 160 x 14.6 mm.
The municipal company “SuboticaGas” has standardised and unified G-4 and G-6 MRs, called KMRs, specifically for individual properties and specifically for multi-family residential buildings. All MRS of larger dimensions are constructed in accordance with the project documentation and applicable regulations. It is recommended to install a corrector during the construction of an MRS to enable precise billing of natural gas consumption. The entire network has a total of 330 fire taps and 110 sectional taps, which allow the gas distribution network to be sectionalised in the event of a system disturbance, and for the protection of the safety and security of people and property. The aforementioned gas distribution network constitutes a single, unified system.
Given the operating pressure of the gas distribution network, which is less than 6 bar (p<6 bar), natural gas customers are classified under “Category 1”, in the “Households” and “Other Customers” groups.
As of the end of 2013, the total length of the gas distribution network (excluding constructed connections) is 406 km of various dimensions, with a total of 8,871 consumers from both groups.
